Product Types
Updated over a week ago

Each of your products is assigned to a specific product type.

The system offers four predefined product types: Beverage, Food, Hot Drink & Ingredient. You can create an unlimited number of product types that serve your needs.

One of the purposes of Product Types is to group products in certain reports: Sales by Product, Inventory Valuation.

Another purpose of Product Types is to define the mapping between Tax Type and Products, i.e., to specify which tax applies to a particular product.

You can define this mapping on the Product Types screen and the Tax Types screen.

Product Types Grid

You can see a list of all available Product Types displayed with their names.

Create Product Type

Use the Create Product Type button to open the Create Product Type screen:

Give a descriptive name to the product type (required), for example, “Juice,” “Water,” “Chips,” “Candy,” etc.

In the Taxes section, the system displays a list of all existing Tax Types. Use the checkboxes in front of each to define whether this tax applies to this product type. You can select as many as you need, also none.

If no taxes have been defined yet, save the new product type. In the next step, when you go to the Tax Types screen, you can create your tax types and map them to the appropriate product types from there.
